In September we had the pleasure of sharing a story about the Piapot modular build, an initiative that gave offenders at Saskatchewan Penitentiary the opportunity to give back to First Nations children on reserves while learning new skills and preparing for employment upon release.
“It helps (offenders) learn a trade … it gives them something to do when they get out, so they don’t have to go back to whatever they did to get in here. They go out into the workforce with a little more knowledge, hopefully, and they can get a job immediately as soon as they get out.” – Trevor Simpson, CORCAN instructor
