It isn’t often that CSC is talked about on a big stage in New Orleans in front of a large crowd filled with top notch communications experts from around the world – in fact, it’s never happened. But there’s a first time for everything. On June 6, 2016, CSC’s own Scott Harris, Assistant Commissioner, Communications and Engagement and Heather Cloutier, Manager, Web and Multimedia Services accepted an award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) for Beyond the Fence: A Virtual Tour of a Canadian Penitentiary.
If sold out tickets for tours of Kingston Penitentiary is any indication, there is a keen interest amongst the general public in what life is like beyond CSC’s fences. That’s why we launched the virtual tour in 2015, which consists of 360-degree panoramic views of various areas within an institution including a minimum, medium, and maximum security cell and range, chapel, workshop, programs room, and health care centre.
For more than forty years, IABC’s Gold Quill Awards have recognized and awarded excellence in strategic communication worldwide. We are thrilled that CSC’s product received an Award of Merit from the IABC. Congratulations to everyone involved in creating it, including Heather O’Connell who was instrumental in making it happen.
