Digifest Wins GTEC Distinction Award

Features

Members of the Correctional Service of Canada were awarded with a medal of excellence at the 2016 GTEC Distinction Awards for last year’s Digifest.

The gala recognizes “excellence in service delivery to Canadians, leveraging information technology and information management” in the government. Digifest won in the category “Maximizing the Talent of our People,” for harnessing the talent of human resources for the application and use of technology to enhance the government.

Digifest was an event held on January 20, 2016 that brought government communicators together to help foster digital skills development within the community. The event used concepts of gamification within the broader move to digital by default by creating a real-time skills competition. Throughout the day, teams of communicators were tasked with making a digital campaign to promote Digifest by creating Twitter accounts, using new technologies and producing compelling content for the web.

Communicators were encouraged to take the new skills they learned at Digifest and apply them in their everyday work with the Government of Canada.

Congratulations to all the winners!
