The Correctional Learning and Development Centre (CLDC) in Abbotsford, British Columbia hosted a Fire Relief Fundraiser on July 25, 2017 to help those affected by wild fires in the region. The day began with fresh brewed coffee and homemade cookies by donation, followed by an afternoon carnival that required loonies and toonies to participate. Events included several cake walks (total of 8 cakes were donated), ring toss, balloon darts, baseball throwing, toonie toss, and tootsie pop pulls to name just a few. A silent auction in the cafeteria ran throughout the remainder of the week. Several beautiful pieces of artwork, jewelry, and a homemade quilt were among the donated items available.
A total of $455 was raised for the Canadian Red Cross to help support the fire relief efforts! Thanks go out to staff who organized the event and all those who participated!
