Freedom of the City, Village, and Town

Features

Over the course of the past six months, CSC has been honoured in Kingston, Ontario, Dorchester, New Brunswick, and Grande Cache, Alberta for its service.

On May 31, we were granted “Freedom of the City” by the City of Kingston, on July 26, we were granted “Freedom of the Village” by the Village of Dorchester in honour of Dorchester Penitentiary’s 135 years of service, and on October 17 we were granted “Freedom of the Town” by Grande Cache. All three proclaimed every June 1st as “Correctional Service of Canada Appreciation Day” in recognition of CSC’s 180th anniversary in Canada.

Our staff members marched along streets lined with cheering crowds of appreciative citizens. These were momentous occasions for the organization and something we can all be proud of. Our video and photography crews were on hand to capture these historic events and we are happy to share them with you.
