Quebec Region districts partner with Échec au crime

Features

As part of the Correctional Service of Canada’s (CSC) commitment to developing and expanding our network of partners that contribute to public safety results, both Quebec Region districts have signed a memorandum of understanding with Échec au crime, a non-profit organization that encourages people to report crimes anonymously.

Specifically, the memorandum outlines a commitment on behalf of Échec au crime to transfer information received about offenders who are unlawfully at large to the districts, as well as information about offenders under supervision in CSC’s jurisdiction within the Quebec Region. This new partnership will improve public safety through the exchange of relevant information with our case management teams for risk assessments and required supervision strategies.

As anonymity is a priority for Échec au crime, the memorandum ensures that this standard is maintained to protect the identity of individuals providing the information. Échec au crime activities will also result in improved public safety through arrests, seizures, quicker progress for certain police investigations, and community awareness of crime prevention. The program is based on collaboration between police forces, media, and the community. As such, the memorandum of understanding is a perfect combination of our objective of expanding partnerships for increased public safety results, and those specific to Échec au crime.
